5K or 1 mile, Run or Walk, with or without a pet participant. Everybody, 2 legged and 4 legged, is welcome to run, to walk, or just to come and watch and mingle. Fido Scurry benefits the animals in our community, but you don’t need to have a pet with you to enjoy the morning!
The event will begin with Yappy Hour, which includes a Pet Parade and costume contest at 8:40 am, with prizes for best costumes in several categories – most original, most feminine, most masculine, costume most fitting the theme, owner and pet costumed most alike. The theme for this year’s costume contest is “Dogs Around The World”! So dress up your pet (and yourself too if you wish), in your favorite uinversal attire! Pet and person costumes are not required, but are very welcomed and appreciated by everybody!
- 8am – Yappy Hour
- 8:40am – Pet Parade and costume contest
- 8:30am – Ecumenical blessing of the animals
- 9am – Dog Jog, 5K or 1 mile, Run or Walk
- 9:15 – Weiners & Peanuts Racing
- Lap Up – complimentary refreshments, treats, door prizes, displays, face painting and the Bow Wow Meow Boutique
- 9:45am – Doggie Triathlon, Wheels, Paws & Paddle
Cost for the Run is $25. per person, which includes one T-shirt and one bandana. Cost for the Walk is $10 per person, or $20 per family, which includes one bandana. Additional T-shirts and bandanas may be purchased for $15 per T-shirt or $5 per bandana. Tee shirts and bandanas ordered online will be available at Fairview on the day of the event, or they are available for purchase now at Millie & Bo’s Barkery.
Registration forms may be picked up at veterinarians’ offices, , Dale’s Southlake Pharmacy, the Decatur Indoor Sports Center and the Decatur Park District office. Registration is also available in the park the day of the event. Advanced registration will guarantee a shirt and/or bandana, and eliminate waiting in the registration line the day of the event.
